Specifically, we are developing various biotechnological methods for genetic engineering to construct industrially useful organisms such as cell factories by giving new functions to cells. This lab is dedicated to developing core technologies, reagents, and equipment to analyze specific biomarkers by using isolation/concentrating pathogens from various samples (blood, urine, saliva, faces). We currently expend the research into the environmental issues and are also onducting environmental analysis.

Based on nucleic acid amplification such as PCR and LAMP, we are developing new concept medical equipment using various nanomaterials and microfluidic technologies.

In our laboratory, we develop the systems for analysis and diagnosis, and various types of biosensors that can be applied to the real field. For this purpose, we are developing and optimizing quantitative/qualitative analysis kits for viruses, hormones, and antibody proteins in blood and non-cognitive media, as well as quantitative analysis of harmful compound factors in drinking water. For industrial collaborations, our works focus on the development of fluorescence and luminescence platforms and for academic researches, our researches composed of the optimization of electrochemical platforms and sample concentrations.

Our laboratory studies the subject of manufacturing nanomaterials and applying them for bio-applications. Representative research themes include research on application of biosensors with increased sensitivity with nanomaterials, discovery of new biomarkers for cancer screening and detection through high-sensitivity nanomaterials, and nanomaterials harmless to the human body against antibiotic-resistant bacteria. We carry out research on removal of cancer cells, nanomaterial research for activating immune cells for cancer immunotherapy, and nanomaterial research for differentiation and characterization of immune cells/stem cells.
