Introduction to Integrative Thermodynamics Tae-Hyung Kim 3 2-1 This lecture covers the basic concepts of heat and work that are the basics of the engineering approach. First, some important theories will be adopted from physical chemistry to understand the fundamentals of thermodynamics. Thereafter, the students will learn how to apply such thermodynamic theory to real manufacturing processes.
Fundamentals of Microfluidics Junhong Min 3 2-2 This is a major required subject that learns the concept of heat and work, which are the basics of all engineering knowledge. In here, we hope all of you understand the basic concepts of thermodynamics from a physicochemical perspective and learn how thermodynamic theory is applied and utilized in actual processes through several examples.
Cell Biology Donghyun Lee 3 2-2 This course is focused on learning the basics of cells that are the basis of understanding the concepts of bioengineering, including the structures and functions of biological polymers such as proteins, nucleic acids, and polysaccharides.
Biochemistry Dokyun Na 3 2-2 This course introduces fundamental mechanisms of gene expression and regulation, biochemical metabolisms. In addition, recent fields such as bioinformatics are also introduced.
Integrative Applied MathematicsⅡ Jonghoon Choi 3 2-2 This course learns the expression of infinite series of functions through Fourier analysis. It deals with the solution of differential equations through this. This course applies to the research field of the biomedical engineering by modeling physical and chemical phenomena such as heat conduction and waves.

Bio-Medical Design Min-Ho Lee 3 2-1 We learn in this course the basic experimental methods commonly used in biomedical experiments and also learn about the techniques that can be used in analysis. This course consists of analysis and discussion of results through experiments/practices.
Molecular Biology Seung Min Yoo 3 2-1 This course covers from the basic knowledge of gene and proteins to the principles and mechanisms related to DNA replication and gene expression.
Bio-Integrative Design Tae-Hyung Kim 3 3-1 This course aims to learn various experimental methods that are widely used in the biomedical engineering area. The students are expected to learn basic theories and the skills to perform biological experiments. The analysis and discussion regarding the experimental results will be followed.
Physiology Seung Min Yoo 3 3-1 This course aims to understand the principles behind human physiological phenomena and apply them to a biomedical engineering field.
Bioprocess Engineering Junhong Min 3 3-1 We learn here several bioprocesses including fermentation, purification, and measurement. In particular, the reactor design and numerical analysis could be added. Principally, basic biochemistry is re-studied. (the subject "fundermentals of microfluidics" is prerequisite for this)
Colloid Science Donghyun Lee 3 3-1 The course covers the theoretical backgrounds of chemistry, kinetics, and analytical methods for colloidal systems. The application of such theories to real-life situations also is discussed in the class.
Bioconjugate Technology Jonghoon Choi 3 3-1 This course learns bioconjugation, which is one of the core technologies of biomedical engineering, required for drug-antibody binding and antibody-probe binding. This is a theoretical subject that learns how to bind target drugs, antibodies, DNA/RNA, and other various biomolecules as a whole by applying them from the basics of organic chemistry.
DNA and Society Dokyun Na 3 3-2 Biotechnology, which is rapidly developing in recent years, is causing many ethical and social problems. In this course, students learn not only the advantages of future biotechnologies but also various social issues that may arise.

Human ICT Interface Engineering Junhong Min 3 4-2 This course is to study the basic technology to connect the sample (human) and electronic equipment (sensor). The biosensor principle and application are studied in theory, and the basic experiments of molecular diagnosis are conducted together. 35% theory and 65% experimentation.
